Moving to a new home is exciting, but it can be stressful for your furry friends. Here's how to make their journey a breeze, according to Dr. Jennifer Monroe of Eagle's Landing Veterinary Hospital:

• Vet Visit is Key: Before you hit the road, take your pet to the vet for a checkup and any needed vaccinations. It's also a good time to get an interstate health certificate if you're crossing state lines.
  

• Pack Your Pet's Essentials:  Bring enough food, water, meds, and a first-aid kit. Don't forget those poop bags!
  

• Potty Breaks Are Important: Stop every few hours to let your pet stretch their legs and do their business. If you have a cat, a harness and leash are a must if you're taking them outside.
  

• Update ID Tags and Microchip: Make sure your pet's tags have your current contact information and consider getting them microchipped for extra safety.
  

• Find Pet-Friendly Lodging:  Many hotels welcome pets these days. Plan your stops ahead of time using websites like Petswelcome.com or BringFido.com.
  

• Make your cat relax? Proceed with Caution:  Talk to your vet about sedatives, as they can sometimes make anxiety worse. Make sure you discuss the pros/cons on this method to decrease stress on the cat.
